Input of loads

The input of loads is very similar to the input of supports: first select the force button . There is a difference, however: we now need to specify the actual force we want to input. And this cannot be done just by pressing the Control or Shift key, as it can take many different values. Have a look at the bottom of the applet. You will see an area looking as show in Figure 11a. Select the value 0.1 that is presently indicated (Fig. 11b), and replace it by 0.15 (Fig. 11c), then click on the middle node of the top left plate. You should now see something similar to Fig. 11d.

a) Input zone for the value of the force
b) Selection of the amplitude of the force (<-90 means that the force is pointing downward)
c) Correct value for the load
d) Input of the first force

Proceed in a similar manner to introduce the second load, with a value of 0.3 MN.
